In a shocking incident that has sparked anger across social media, a video has emerged showing an Indian student in the U.S. being forcefully tackled to the ground by police officers, handcuffed, and reportedly deported back to India.

The video and accompanying reports have deeply disturbed many, especially as this is not an isolated event. A user on Twitter claimed that such incidents are happening daily, and Indian citizens—especially students—are being treated like criminals in a country that calls itself India’s "strategic partner."

What’s more concerning is the silence of Indian authorities. Despite repeated cases of humiliation and mistreatment of Indians abroad, especially in the U.S., there is little to no strong diplomatic response from the Indian government.

Many are now asking:

  • Why is India failing to protect the dignity of its citizens abroad?

  • Why is there no public outrage from our leaders when young Indians are insulted or assaulted in foreign countries?

  • And why are such incidents increasing despite India's growing global influence?

While India celebrates its ties with the West and leaders call each other "dear friends," are ordinary Indians paying the price through such humiliations?

Is it time to rethink how we engage with the West, and whether India needs to speak louder for its people, especially when they face racial profiling, abuse, or unfair treatment?

What should India's response be to the mistreatment of its students in the U.S.?
