Every year, Jyeshtha Purnima is a spiritual reminder of one of the most mystical and controversial personalities in Indian spiritual history — Kabir Saheb. According to various scriptures and oral traditions, Kabir Saheb manifested miraculously around 600 years ago, not born of a womb, but appearing as a child on a lotus flower in the Lahartara pond of Kashi.

This unique birth narrative sets him apart from all known saints or sages of his time. It is believed that he descended directly from the eternal realm to awaken the world from illusion. Many consider him a great poet, others see him as a social reformer. But a growing number of followers — especially from the Kabir Panth and other spiritual groups — claim something far more powerful:

That Kabir is not just a saint, but the Supreme God Himself.

This belief is backed by spiritual texts like the Kabir Sagar and the Vedas, where references to a Nirgun (formless) yet accessible God match the characteristics attributed to Kabir Saheb. His teachings on Satlok (the eternal place beyond birth and death), the illusion of this world, and the identity of the true God challenge traditional paths of worship.

As Kabir Prakat Diwas approaches between June 9 to 11, 2025, it’s time to reflect.

Have we misunderstood a divine figure for centuries?
Or is this just another spiritual myth wrapped in poetry and symbolism?
