The Housefull series has always been unapologetically chaotic, packed with slapstick humour, improbable plots, and ensemble casts. With Housefull 5, director Tarun Mansukhani takes the reins from Sajid Khan, aiming to blend the old formula with a fresh twist. But the real question is—did the magic return, or is the comedy just running on fumes?

From the start, Housefull 5 sets the tone with absurd gags and recycled jokes that seem straight out of a 2010 meme book. Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and others do what they do best—deliver punchlines with a straight face, even when the script barely holds up. The cast is as energetic as ever, but the screenplay feels stretched and bloated, trying too hard to manufacture laughter from tired tropes.

Visually, the film goes big—exotic locations, glittering sets, and lavish costumes. But under all that gloss lies a script that feels like a checklist of "what worked before." There are some genuinely funny moments, but they get buried under forced cameos, predictable twists, and an over-reliance on nostalgia.

Despite all this, Housefull 5 still manages to entertain in parts—especially if you're in the mood to switch off your brain and just laugh at the absurdity. However, for a generation now used to smarter comedies and sharper satire, this one might feel a bit out of place.

So where do we go from here? Is it time to say goodbye to the Housefull franchise, or do you still think there’s gas left in this over-the-top comedy machine?
